Girls Talk (Years 4, 5 & 6)
At Mason Moor, we believe that promoting the health and well-being of our pupils is an important part of their overall education. We do this through our Healthy & Happy Curriculum (PSHE) course. This looks at many topics including all kinds of relationships, physical / emotional health and living in the wider world. The aim of the Healthy & Happy curriculum is to help our pupils make safe and informed decisions during their school years and beyond.
Sex and Relationship Education (SRE) is an important part of the Healthy & Happy curriculum. We will be teaching lessons about SRE in the summer term. During this time, pupils will be able to ask questions, which will be answered factually and in an age appropriate manner.
All children, in years 4, 5 & 6, learn about periods and menstruation during their Sex and Relationship sessions in class, but we feel that doing a session just for the girls and their mums, away from the classroom, will provide the opportunity for a much deeper and private discussion. Therefore, we offer a “Mothers and daughters” evening, to learn all about periods and menstruation. This is open to all girls in years 4, 5 and 6.
Below is some comments made my mothers and their daughters about how they evening went.
